50+ Years combined clinical experience
Not years reading about systems — years working inside them. Child welfare, youth justice, health, education, employment. That lived knowledge comes directly into your sessions.
Finding your anchor. Grounded in care, rooted in you.
The Ancrage counseling and psychotherapy practice offers compassionate, pragmatic support to individuals, couples, and families addressing everything from domestic violence and substance abuse to life transitions and mediation. Sessions are available in French and English, with a registered social worker who supports you at your own pace.
Ancrage — French for "anchoring" — was built on a simple belief: that people deserve therapy which meets them exactly where they are.
We are a bilingual private practice co-founded by two Registered Social Workers with a combined 50+ years of clinical experience across child welfare, youth justice, health, and employment systems in Ontario. We bring that knowledge directly into the room with you — offering care that is direct, compassionate, and grounded in what is actually happening in your life.

Not just navigable — genuinely fluent. Brigitte works entirely in English and French. Francophone clients across Ontario can access care in their first language, in every session.
One of very few practices in Ontario working on both sides — trauma-informed survivor support, and responsible relationships counselling for those who have caused harm.
Secure virtual sessions available across all of Ontario, plus in-person in Toronto. Sliding scale fees, a free first consult, and scheduling that works around your real life.
We are not passive. We tell you what we see, we work with what is real, and we won't waste your time with approaches that aren't working. Honest therapy, every session.
2SLGBTQ+ affirming and actively anti-oppressive. We welcome clients of all races, ethnicities, ages, family structures, abilities, and backgrounds — without exception.
"We don't believe in ceilings. Many of the people we work with have been told to simply manage or live with it — and found that with the right support, real change is possible."
Send us a message using the contact form, or email us directly. Tell us a little about what's bringing you here — there are no wrong answers.
We'll schedule a no-pressure consultation by phone or video — a chance to connect, ask questions, and see if it feels like the right fit.
If we're the right fit, we book your first session — virtual across Ontario or in-person in Toronto — at your pace, on your terms.

"I had seen two other therapists before Brigitte. Neither of them felt real to me. Brigitte tells you the truth — and somehow that made it possible to actually change."
"Ali helped our family talk to each other again after years of silence. He doesn't take sides — he holds space for everyone. It changed everything for us."
"Travailler avec Brigitte en français a tout changé pour moi. Je pouvais enfin m'exprimer dans ma propre langue — et être vraiment entendue."
"I was navigating the child welfare system alone. Ali had actually worked in it — he knew exactly what to say and what to push for. I would have been lost without him."
"The sliding scale made care possible for me. And Brigitte never made me feel like a charity case — just a person who deserved support. That meant everything."
"Ali mediated our separation with fairness and dignity. We were both in pain, but he kept the focus on what mattered — our children. We are deeply grateful."
"I was dealing with addiction and a lot of shame. Brigitte treated me like a whole person — not a problem to fix. That made the actual work possible for the first time."
"After my divorce I didn't know who I was. Ali helped me see that as an opportunity rather than a loss. I came in broken and left with something solid to stand on."
